Anxiety and Depression

'Do it or don’t do it – you will regret both.'

Are suffering from depression?

Most people experience feelings of depression or anxiety at least once during the course of their lifetime.  This experience can be short lived or can become a chronic situation and interfere with normal, everyday functioning.  Circumstances such as the loss of a loved one, a divorce or a breakup, getting terminated from a job, changes in our body or other misfortunes of life can invoke feelings of loneliness, anxiety, fear, sadness, hopelessness, guilt, worthlessness, anger, frustration and suicidal thoughts.

During this difficult time an individual may choose to withdraw from social groups and isolate themselves.  It may seem difficult to find joy, meaning and purpose in life.  Feelings of aloneness and alienation from others may arise.  Thus, you may experience symptoms such as change in appetite, difficulties with sleep, issues with concentration, and memory loss.

Anxiety and Depression

Are you suffering from anxiety?

Anxiety can be experienced in feelings of intense fear, panic, terror or dread.  Such feelings may leave you feeling physically and emotionally drained to the point where you avoid your normal everyday activities.  Because of this you may experience numerous distressing symptoms including, but not limited to, racing heart, difficulty breathing, tightness of the chest, trembling hands or limbs, metal fog, racing thoughts or feeling detached from your body.  You may also have obsessive thoughts and worry about them excessively.

My therapeutic approach for anxiety and depression

Very often we try to avoid or deny our depression and anxiety by choosing to self-medicate or engage in behaviors that calm your nerves in order to help us deal with the pain of living.  This approach to healing helps in the same way as pushing the dirt under the carpet.  It is invisible but we are never free from it.  I, as a therapist, can help you cope with what is troubling you in a healthy constructive manner by providing a safe environment where you can confront your pain, stressful thoughts and unwanted feelings.  We can engage in a deep exploration of your thoughts and feelings without judgment.  Our therapeutic relationship will help you grow, develop and find new meaning and purpose in life.  As a result you will feel lighter, stronger and more powerful.
